Job Summary

The Leadman in the Feeds Department is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the production floor, guiding and supporting a team of operators, and ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and production standards. The Leadman will act as a point of contact between the production team and management, ensuring tasks are completed on time, equipment is properly utilized, and production targets are met.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and Lead:
- Oversee a team of operators and technicians to ensure daily production targets are met efficiently and safely.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and hands-on support to the team.
- Delegate tasks and ensure the proper allocation of labor and resources.

Operational Oversight:
- Monitor the production process for efficiency, quality, and compliance with safety and feed safety standards.
- Ensure the proper mixing, grinding, and processing of raw materials according to established recipes and specifications.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues, minimize downtime, and ensure timely resolution of operational issues.

Quality and Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP, and other industry standards in all aspects of production.
- Monitor product quality and ensure the proper documentation of quality checks, batches, and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Safety and Training:
- Enforce and ensure adherence to all safety policies, procedures, and PPE usage to minimize risks and promote a safe working environment.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new employees.
- Lead safety meetings and training sessions on safe handling, equipment operation, and emergency procedures.

Performance Tracking and Reporting:
- Monitor production metrics such as output, downtime, and labor efficiency.
- Assist in generating production reports for management and identify areas for process improvement.
- Provide feedback and performance evaluations for team members.

Continuous Improvement:
- Proactively identify areas for improvement in processes, productivity, or quality.
- Implement or recommend changes to improve workflow, efficiency, and quality.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean or Six Sigma projects.

Qualification

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Production, or related field is a plus.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in the feed or food industry.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience is required.
In-depth knowledge of feed production processes, equipment, and safety standards.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make quick, effective decisions.
Excellent organizational, communication, and team management skills.
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
Familiarity with quality standards and regulatory requirements (GMP, HACCP, etc.).
